Sample Club Runs

There are several different types of running that we provide on club night (Wednesdays). Below is a sample selection of some of these sessions, which are undertaken at different times of the year.

Groups - Some club nights will be split into groups. Group 1 should be members that can cover at least 5 miles in 40 minutes or less. Group 2 are all other members. This is to ensure all members can gain maximum benefit from the session.

Pairs Handicap - A handicap run in pairs. Each pair will run together on our standard 5 mile route, the first pair starting at 7:30pm. Handicaps will be based on the slower of the pairs estimated 5 mile time, up to a maximum of 50 minutes. All should finish around the same time!

5km Club Handicap - This is explained more fully here . A set 5km route run over 6 different club nights during the summer months.

Speed Session (track)  - This consists of various different fast periods of running, from 100m up to 1km.

Speed Session (road) - Some fast running based at Churchfield Road (Sorting Office). With a slow jog there and back. In the summer months the school fields behind the Sports Centre may be used.

Out and Back - Members will run a pre-determined route for 20 minutes, then turn around and run back. Ideally you should aim to run back a little faster than you completed the out run.

Hill Session - A session of hills using one of many of the nearby hilly roads.

Longer Run - A group run up to a maximum of 7 miles in distance.

3,5,7 Run - Members can choose whether they wish to run a 3, 5, or 7 mile route.
